The Firefly Foundation is an organization that I create based on a social issue that is close to my heart. The FFF is located in underprivileged areas around the world that provide girls who struggle with learning disabilities with the resources and tools to be able to have a proper education that will help them succeed in learning and developing a career for their future. I wanted the main element of the logo to be a firefly. The firefly illustrates the message of a light that will guide you on a path to a brighter future. The look of the logo is simple and easy to understand. I chose a bold, sans-serif font that would balance out the weight of the wings in the firefly. For color, I kept the body of the firefly yellow to keep the representation of light. I decided to choose a deep navy color for the rest of the logo to allow a contrast in color, while also having an educational look.
These posters and billboard designs show the resources that they will be provided and the learning disabilities that girls can have and never know about. These resources include pencils, hearing aids, and glasses. The learning disabilities that the posters and billboards cover are reading and writing, hearing, and visual learning. The poster and billboard designs also have the element of illuminations behind each have to show the focus on what the disabilities and resources are. The illumination represents the light that the fireflies use to show these young girls the way out of the darkness and guide them to their futures.
For the responsive web and phone designs, I wanted the look to be clean and simple. I wanted to make sure that I also included not only the color scheme from the logo but also incorporate the design form the billboards into the over all web design. When it came to type, I wanted to kept the type that was used in the logo to make the over all design more cohesive. The type also needed to be clear and understandable. The users that will be using the website will be of a learning disability and I wanted to include the aspects of larger leading and darker type to make sure that their needs were met. I think it is important to show a cohesive look when developing a brand and making sure that these small details a shown across the board when doing brand design.
